Don't let Ramadan meet you unprepared!

Join the Ramadan Empowerment Workshop for Healthcare Professionals this Saturday!

As-salam alaykum,

“Alhamdulillah, Eid was so much fun yesterday but I could just not get rid of the sickening feeling and the guilt of the month passing through without making the most of it because I was always tired at the end of my clinical shift, and could not focus on anything but just trying to recover for the next day of the month (while making poorly informed choices with my energy, focus and time) nor make meaningful progress without any of the goals that I set out to accomplish this blessed month until I finally made it to the end and here we are!”

Does the narrative above sound familiar?

It does for me quite frankly - I was reminded by a close friend just yesterday how, in the very early days of my hospitalist career, some of my friends and I would gather in one of our friend’s apartments 1-2 weeks (..usually just a few days before…subhanAllah!) before Ramadan and discuss our goals - a very noble thing to do, Ma sha Allah TabaarakAllah - but little did I (we) know at the time that there were many factors that could get in the way of us making meaningful progress when the month of Ramadan descended upon us (...and boy, did they get in the way!..).

Unfortunately, this is not an uncommon thread among busy Muslim professionals, especially many of us grinding at the long and often irregular hours  in healthcare that are full of energy drainers from walking the hospital floors to having crucial conversations with colleagues to emotionally supporting patients and their families through some of the most difficult experiences for them to managing our own obligations to our families and our communities.

It’s pretty obvious that without a well thought out and proactive approach that is infused with Barakah mindsets, values and rituals we are likely to come out like my “friend” above or even worse off; May Allah SWT protect us all and grant us a month of transformation that brings us closer to Him. Ameen.

My friend and mentor, Mohammed Faris at the Productive Muslim Company, released one of his flagship courses yesterday - the High-Performance Ramadan (HPR) Mini-Masterclass, typically priced at $99, but currently available at no cost to anyone who is keen to learn, grow and perform well during Ramadan. It’s a great course and I have personally benefited immensely from it over the years. If you are exploring a self-paced option given your busy schedule then this is a great course to prepare for Ramadan.

Tomorrow, In sha Allah, I will be taking a few healthcare professionals through the Ramadan Empowerment Workshop for Healthcare Professionals which shares similar insights to the HPR mini-masterclass referenced above in a very targeted approach for busy healthcare professionals over a 90-min workshop.

The intention is to cut to the chase over 90-minutes focusing on the most high-yield recommendations for our unique cohort of healthcare professionals in a way that gives due consideration to your season of life and the often unprecedented challenges of healthcare work.

Whether you are a healthcare student, resident or fellow, nurse, advanced practice provider, attending with kids, a healthcare leader or any combination of these, you will come away with the relevant knowledge, skills and attitudes to help you win more days this Ramadan in sha Allah.

The challenges of fasting (and thriving…in sha Allah) in the month of Ramadan while juggling our personal intentions for growth and transformation in this blessed month among our other priorities at home and at work can be very daunting. With the right type of support, this can be managed effectively by the will of Allah SWT.

Alhamdulillah, at SakeenahMD, we are well positioned to provide this type of support given my own background in healthcare as well as learning from many scholar-directed programs culminating in my certification with the Productive Muslim Company.

The workshop will take place via zoom tomorrow, Saturday, 21st Sha’ban 1445AH (March 2, 2024) at 10.30am U.S. CST in sha Allah. Register here: https://www.sakeenahmd.com/

Scholarships available for up to 5 healthcare students and trainees.
