“It’s Hard to Do This Alone”
Reflections after the Elevate with Barakah: Spiritual Intelligence and Sustainable Success for Muslim Healthcare Professionals Webinar
As-salamu alaykum,
Gaza is on all of our minds and as I sat down to write this newsletter, it hit me that herein lies another opportunity for us to collectively impact the dire situation by keeping our brothers and sisters in our thoughts, du’as and even extend a generous hand in their direction at a time when the cost of food and other supplies have skyrocketed.
Here’s a link to the Heroic Hearts Gaza Emergency Fund if you are so inclined.
May Allah SWT alleviate their pain and suffering and grant them victory over the oppressors. Amin.
The situation in Gaza also gives more reason to be intentional about our own growth so that we can be the Ummah that leads and pushes for meaningful change in the service of all of Humanity.
One of the most powerful reflections we received after the Elevate with Barakah: Spiritual Intelligence and Sustainable Success for Muslim Healthcare Professionals webinar (Replay link) came from a fellow healthcare professional who simply said:
“I know we can all improve on our time management and our relationship with Allah. It’s hard to do this alone.”
That last line stayed with me.
It’s hard to do this alone.
To realign our work with our worship.
To prioritize spiritual intelligence in a system that often values output over inner peace.
To keep showing up in our clinics, hospitals, homes, and communities while quietly carrying emotional fatigue.
But here's the truth: you don’t have to do it alone.
We opened the webinar with a verse from Surah Ar-Ra’d (13:11):
“Indeed, Allah does not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves.”
It’s a powerful reminder that change begins with us.
Self-agency is not only possible…it’s essential.
But self-agency doesn’t mean self-isolation especially when things are not going well.
Rather, to lean into self-agency is to follow the holistic blueprint of spiritual intelligence that is the anchor of the Barakah paradigm;
To acknowledge that we have the free will to choose and pursue a path—I choose not to be alone and to find my next best version!
To embrace the natural laws that govern how the world that Allah, the Most High, created works—I will seek out the “who’s” and not just focus on the “how” to navigate the path of transformation.
To seek divine permission through Du’a and Istikhaara for divine enablement (Taofiq) on this path and attract Barakah.
While detaching from the outcome, staying laser focused on the process of transformation, my sincerity and commitment to the work.
This approach, in sha Allah, will help you make meaningful progress from where you may be today.
This is the path of transformation.
One where coaching supports your journey and short circuits it so that you don’t take missteps that can cost you many months or even years of unproductive struggle—alone.
At an inflection point during the webinar, we took a few minutes to slow down together with the Barakah of the jama’a (the group), to do a simple Barakah Reset Exercise that took us through the Elevate with Barakah Framework in just about 10 minutes—just enough time for you to experiment with it. Bismillah! It was unveiling, as one of the attendees commented; “it makes you think deeply”, “simple doesn’t easy”.
We closed the session with the beautiful hadith of the Prophet SAW:
“If the Day of Resurrection were established upon one of you while he has a sapling in his hand, then let him plant it.” (Musnad Ahmad)
Even in the face of overwhelm—whether cosmic or clinical—our Prophet SAW taught us to act.
To plant.
To believe that our effort, however small, matters.
This is the heart of the Resilient Healthcare Worker Program—a 12-month journey designed for Muslim healthcare professionals like you who want to realign your career, faith, and well-being from the inside out.
If something stirred in you during the webinar—or even as you read this now—don’t ignore it.
Alhamdulillah, 2 of the 10 spots have been taken. 4 are being actively considered.
