Ramadan Notes 1446 AH #5: Recalibrating for the Next 10 Days
Keeping Your Spiritual Momentum Strong
As-salamu’ alaykum,
Today’s newsletter is a short one. It’s been one of those days—vacillating between my roles at home, at work and in the community, Alhamdulillah!
Most of us have now concluded our first week of Ramadan fast with 3 weeks to go in sha Allah.
It’s also a time that we may be experiencing a dip in spiritual focus.
Why so?
A couple of things tend to be at play;
Physical Fatigue: Our body's adjustment to new eating and sleeping patterns can lead to tiredness, impacting our ability to maintain heightened spiritual focus.
External Distractions: This has been quite the struggle for me this week (and maybe for you as well)—-balancing work, family, and other responsibilities while aiming high with our Ibadah creates a tension that requires careful attention from each of us and to be adaptable in these limited time in order to sustain the initial spiritual momentum.
Unrealistic Expectations: As healthcare professionals, we are accustomed to aiming very high and we should in this blessed month full of Barakah and approach it with an abundance mindset. At the same time, we ought to pace ourselves and set realistic goals so that we avoid burnout, and the decline in motivation that can happen as the Ramadan progresses.
Here are few strategies to help you revitalize your spiritual focus:
🔄 Switch Up Your Routine
If Ibadah feels repetitive, add some variety—try a different time for tahajjud, alternate between recitation and going deep with the translation or tafsir, and/or set mini-goals to keep your engagement fresh.
🤝 Lean Into Community
Spiritual energy thrives in connection. Join the SakeenahMD community (or another one that serves your needs), stay with the congregation, join a study circle, or simply check in with a friend for accountability and encouragement.
🎯 Set Realistic Goals
Don’t aim for perfection—aim for consistency. Small, steady actions hold more Barakah than an overwhelming sprint.
These dips in focus are normal. The key is to recalibrate, not to retreat.
Would love to reflect together on this at our 2nd Ramadan Check-In this Sunday, 9th Ramadan 1446AH (March 9, 2025). Let’s reset, refocus, and realign our energy for the days ahead.

Let’s make the second 10 days count! 🚀
May Allah, the Most High, allow us to stay laser focused on seeking His mindfulness this blessed and keep the momentum through the remaining 3 weeks as we seek our next best versions on this journey. Amin

Sulyman
