Ramadan Notes #26: Review the Past Year with the Mindfulness of Allah
As-salamu’alaykum,
How does your state of mind in Ramadan compare to the rest of the year?
What is the value of that once in a year mental shift?
Do you lean into that clarity of purpose that somehow comes around every Ramadan?
I ask these questions because I want you to consider Ramadan the ultimate time of the year for your annual review and the planning that follows that process for a few reasons;
We believe that the Shaytan is chained and thus has much less influence on us during this blessed month.
The month-long fast often helps many of us become more focused on Allah and generally feel more spiritual.
Ramadan is a great time for praying to Allah for the intentions that we have for the interval year that follows up until the next Ramadan
For this reason, I want to invite you to take some time to do an annual review of your past year since the last Ramadan.
I wrote a newsletter about how to do just that at the turn of the Gregorian calendar year 2024.
If you have some extra time, my mentor and friend Mohammed Faris of The Productive Muslim Company has a free Annual Intention Setting workshop on Youtube which walks you through the process.
I know we have only about 48-72 hours left this month but please make it count and consider doing this before the month runs out if you haven’t already done so, in sha Allah. I sat with my close friend and mastermind to do the same earlier today. It was incredibly rewarding!
May Allah, the Most High, grant us the clarity of purpose to intend and aim high in the coming year and execute with excellence (Ihsan). Amin
Sincerely,
Sulyman
