Ramadan Notes #27: Fertilize Your Annual Intentions with Praiseworthy Planning
As-salamu’alaykum,
In the last newsletter, we started the conversation about leveraging the spiritual essence of Ramadan in a very practical way through the process of an annual review. Even if you did an annual review at the turn of the year, like I did, it’s still very useful to revisit this in Ramadan for the reasons we discussed in the Ramadan Note #26. The fresh lens of your fog-free #RamadanBrain is very likely to help you glean deeper insights and unlock untapped opportunities because of the Barakah effect that is associated with this blessed month!
Recall these verses;
Surah Al-Waaqiah (Ch. 56): v 63-64; “Have you considered what you sow?, Is it you who cause it to grow, or is it We Who do so?” |
Ramadan is fertile ground to sow the seeds of intent for the interval year between this Ramadan and the next for the same reasons we highlighted in the last newsletter.
My call to action for you is to follow up your annual review process with a praiseworthy plan as detailed in a previous newsletter. Make du’a (pray) for these seeds and enrich the execution of your intentions for the coming year with the Barakah of Ramadan.
There are 3 key steps to consider;
Set sincere intentions for the year across the different areas of your life.
Consider who you want to be and not just what you want to achieve in the new year
Do the work (i.e. Tie Your Camel) and detach from the results of your intentions
The related newsletter goes into more detail with each of these 3 critical items to think through as you plan for the year ahead.
To optimize this process, it's best to do this with a trusted friend or your spouse who can challenge your assumptions and get you out of your comfort zone. This has been my experience as well that of many others.
Let me know how it goes in sha Allah.
May Allah, the Most High, open the doors of unprecedented growth towards our next best versions in the interval year leading up to the next Ramadan. Amin
Sincerely,
Sulyman
